Pedal, Pause, Play: Designing Eventure’s iOS Tour App

Eventure Tour Co. is a small business offering electric bike tours in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. To expand their offering beyond in-person bookings, I was brought in to design a mobile app beta for iOS that would support self-guided tours, highlight local points of interest, and open up new revenue opportunities through community partnerships.

I started by riding the tour routes myself to map the journey from a rider’s perspective. I documented timing between stops, areas where voice prompts would be helpful, and opportunities to connect riders with local businesses. These real-world observations helped shape the core flow and tone of the app.

From there, I created user flows, mobile-first wireframes, and a full visual design system tailored to outdoor use. The UI featured large tap targets, clear contrast for visibility in sunlight, and simple map-based navigation. I also explored hands-free functionality using voice prompts and location-based triggers, allowing riders to receive information without needing to stop or interact with the screen.

The beta app was designed to support both guided and self-guided experiences. Riders could start a tour, hear contextual audio based on their location, and get recommendations for nearby shops, food, and attractions. The app also included light gamification to encourage exploration and featured built-in opportunities for local sponsorships tied to route stops.

I delivered a working iOS prototype using native patterns and transitions, built with high-fidelity screens and InVision flows. The design was shared with riders and local partners for early feedback, which helped validate usability and refine the experience.

As part of the strategy, I also helped the founder explore potential business models, including ad-supported experiences, premium tour unlocks, and affiliate revenue from featured partners. This gave the product both user and business value from the start.

The iOS beta laid the foundation for a scalable tour experience that reflects the charm of Santa Rosa Beach while helping Eventure grow beyond seasonal foot traffic.
